The "Golden Roar"

McMillen High School is a 9th-10th grade school located in Murphy Texas on the East side of Plano/Plano I.S.D.

As part of the East Cluster school alignment, the feeder pattern consists of six elementary schools, two middle schools, McMillen HS, and Plano East Senior High School. Band classes start at Armstrong and Murphy Middle Schools in a homogeneous setting. As students progress into 7th and 8th grade, band classes change to a heterogeneous setting with emphasis on individual and ensemble instrument playing skills.

In the McMillen Band, we continue developing these skills at higher levels through the performance of a variety of music.

The McMillen Band welcomes any and all instrumental musicians who participated in their respective middle school band programs. All students enrolled in band at McMillen High School are automatically members of the "Golden Roar" marching band. The McMillen Band is typically the largest student organization on campus, and our school year begins in July with the start of Summer Band Camp. This is our opportunity to learn all of our basic marching band techniques; attendance is paramount. Band students and family members can always check the Calendar and Weekly Communication to keep up to date with band events.

Throughout the academic year, the band and it's students also participate in other performance settings including: two to three school band concerts, select school functions, chamber music, All-state auditions (Region Band), the Solo & Ensemble Festival, Concert & Sight Reading Contest, among others. Our goal is to expose our students to as many and as large a variety of musical experiences as possible during their time at McMillen High School.

The McMillen Band program cannot function without the help and support of the McMillen Band Boosters. With the combined effort from our member's families, this support group provides extensive and incredible help to the band and directors.
