Color Guard & Winter Guard

The award-winning McMillen High School Color Guard is the flag and weapons unit that performs with the marching band. During the Fall, The responsibly of the color guard is to elevate the visual aesthetics of the marching show by the use of flag work, rifle and sabre work, and dance. Through an audition process in the Spring, anybody in the band is eligible to be a member of the color guard (there is limited enrollment). This is a great option for students who play double reed instruments (oboe and bassoon).

During the Spring, the color guard transitions to an extra-curricular indoor activity called Winter Guard. This group is a combination of the McMillen HS, Williams HS, and Plano East SH color guards. Each year, the guard rehearses weekly and performs at several contests around the DFW area. Through an audition, any member of the band can be a member of the East Side Winter Guard.
